Welcome back my lively readers! It's been some time since I left you with my premier blog post, "Livvy, We Mad It; Set Your Goals & Don't Stop Until It's Done." Since then, my life has been on a rollercoaster ride full of extreme emotion. So I decided to take some personal time for myself because, well, I deserve it!
Life comes in cycles. They say when it rains it pours. Something I've been working on is allowing myself to truly embrace what I'm going through instead of distracting myself from the emotions. It is not selfish to take a step back from going through your daily motions when things take a turn for the worst. It can be easy to distract yourself rather than face what you have going on. There is nothing wrong with sitting with your feelings, it helps you heal.
The past month and a half allowed me to take time to step back and reflect. To fully understand what's important to me right now and what I need to make myself happy. For a long time I've carried a heavy load, always worried about everything around me rather than myself. It felt great to only worry about myself, my well-being, and my happiness. Though in the beginning I felt unmotivated, sad, and alone, I found strength and purpose.
The number one act that has allowed me to heal through a very hard time has been practicing gratitude. There truly is nothing more powerful than positive perspective. No matter how hard or draining life may be, there is always something to be thankful for. At the top of my list is my tribe. I would have sat in my bed staring at the wall if it hadn't been for the people who dragged me out my house, randomly checked on, or even the people who sent me kind gifts to brighten my day. Cheers to Family; both biological and chosen.
While it can be easy to be consumed in troubling times, you must find balance. Sit with your feelings, but don't get stuck with them. Be able to recognize the difference between taking a break and losing yourself. Listen to your mind, body, and soul and fuel them with what they desire. Practice gratitude and whatever other forms of self care that work for you and take a little extra time for these things. Don't apologize for taking all the time you need, you deserve every minute.
While it was truly refreshing to focus solely on self-care and my mental well-being, I'm ready to get back to the things that motivate and inspire me; Helping others, working toward bettering myself & my brand, and living unapologetically! Taking time to refuel & recharge can truly re-align your purpose and passions, while also discovering new sparks you have yet to uncover.
Next time I'll be diving into all things self-care! In the mean time I challenge you all to think about how you take time for yourself. What does self-care look like to you? Are you content with where you stand in terms of self-care? How can you show up for yourself a bit more?
Until then,
Liv A Little♡
